The Bolivian Amazon

Bolivia is home to the beautiful Rio Mamoré, a tributary to the Amazon River. It amazes me how the Amazon River extends itself through the heart of South America. Both Bolivia and Peru contain significant parts of the Amazon Basin.

The river is one of the most beautiful attractions in Trinidad, Bolivia. A quick motorcycle trip from the city will take you to rural villages built alongside the river. The roads leading to the river are gorgeously scenic and free of civilization.

And of course the river itself is breathtaking. It's surrounded with lush, tropical greenery and inhabited by a variety of wildlife such as piranhas and pink dolphins.

I hope to eventually make a trip to some of the cities in Northern Bolivia that are even further buried in the Amazon Basin.
