Double Rainbow

Tomorrow night I’m leaving on a trip. I’m going to spend about two weeks in my favorite place in the world.

TDD2

I usually only get to spend one weekend a month in this place.

I’ll be staying in a lovely house with several other persons.

Coming next week: more photos and a post about WHERE I am.

Yesterday when I was supposed to be leaving work it began pouring rain, so I waited inside for it to pass. I was kind of disappointed and frustrated because it hadn’t rained all afternoon and only started right when I was going to leave. So I sat there for 10 minutes before I finally gave in and went outside.

As I began walking the four blocks to the bus stop, the rain soaking through my clothes, I grumbled to myself about how inconvenient it was. But then the rain started to let up and I noticed a bit of a rainbow on the horizon. I looked up to the sky and saw not just one, but two huge rainbows. I stood there for a few minutes enjoying the vibrant colors and realizing that if I hadn’t walked the first two blocks in the rain, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy a rainbow during my last two blocks.

I think the Christian life is kind of like that too. It might be nice if there was sunshine all the time – times of joy and blessing and feeling very close to God. But then we’d miss out on the rainbows. Sometimes God may lead us through difficult times, but if we faithfully push through, the other side will be so much more beautiful. And may even include a double rainbow in the sky.

I love that, Laura. A double rainbow is such a delight, and don't we have times in our life that we feel that God has chosen, in His infinite wisdom, to doubly bless us. Thanks for reminding me of that. Doubt I'll be seeing any rainbows, single or double, for quite some time during our long winter!
