Despite being a dense and highly-urbanized city, Santa Cruz is situated just below the Amazon basin in a tropical country. The western cities lie high in the Andes Mountains, but Santa Cruz sits in the tropical lowlands.
The streets are crowded and bogged down with both traffic and pedestrians. Shops and vendors line the curbs, crowding even into residential areas. But brilliant greens still shine through.
Flowers soften the cityscape and whisper beauty into otherwise less than beautiful places. I so appreciate those glimpses of creation among a manmade world.
